What we have

Our Inspiration Pioneer Visionary Leader

Dr. Manohar K. Dole

"I saw a genuine need for eyecare services in rural Maharashtra. Eradicating blindness became my sole dedication."

Dr. Manohar K. Dole, born on November 22, 1928, in Solapur, Maharashtra, dedicated his life to eradicating blindness and providing quality eye care to underserved communities. Educated at institutions such as Chhabildas Boys High School, New English School, and Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune, Dr. Dole’s passion for healthcare and social service was evident early on. Deeply involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), he was committed to serving the nation, particularly in rural and tribal areas.
In 1982, following the untimely death of his close friend Mohan Thuse, Dr. Dole founded the Mohan Thuse Eye Hospital. Despite limited resources, his unwavering dedication enabled the hospital to become a beacon of hope for thousands across Maharashtra. Over the last 40 years, the foundation has grown, adding hospitals, training centers, a blood bank, and mobile eye care clinics in Pune district. The foundation regularly conducts free eye camps, surgeries, and awareness initiatives for the underprivileged, carrying forward Dr. Dole's legacy of selfless service. Dr. Dole's relentless efforts to make premium eye care accessible to all have earned him widespread recognition, culminating in the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contributions to the field.
